Spiritual Review on the Book of Ruth. (1st Series)
This book is really an inspirational text that wakes up the human heart to always stay truthful to our conscience, to sincerely apply the golden virtue of humility on our situations, to faithfully bathe in the fountain of love by sharing light to the soul of humanity regardless of all diabolical abuses, and finally, to always align to the pureness of gratitude to our Creator for the precious gift of life wrapped in purpose. Now, here is the historical perspective to this book. Again, God in His infinite knowledge and master plan chose to use the Jewish people to showcase His goodwill to the whole of creation not with any bias, but strictly on His prerogative to establish His Covenant of Peace on the platform of perfection through Christ Jesus, who freely brought life and liberty to humankind. As we all would attest, true love has no color, ethnicity or race, and speaks the common language of truth, dignity and fairness to all humanity without a single drop of religion. This gift of eternal love from God through Christ Jesus by His Spirit is to all humankind without discrimination. Hence, the historic narrative of this book from the Jewish context should not distract anyone from the core essence of God’s love to humanity forever. As this foundation is laid, let us now proceed with the story. At a certain period of time in Israel, there was famine or scarcity of essential food commodities in the land. There was a man in the the city of Bethlehem, who chose to relocate with his wife and two sons from his city and country to another country because there was abundance of resources in that other country. According to Jewish tradition, they are not allowed to marry outside their Jewish lineage. But, for some unknown reasons, the two sons of this man, married women from their new foreign country of abode. After a period of time, this man and his two sons passed away and the wife was seriously devastated. The name of this late man’s wife was Naomi and her two daughters-in-law were Oprah and Ruth. Not long after, Naomi summoned her two daughters-in-law and told them she would soon be returning home to Bethlehem. Therefore, she advised them to return to their families and start life afresh because their husbands, who were her two sons as they very much know, were no longer alive. She was in such a deep sorrow by lamenting that she came here (Foreign country) full, but she now returning to her home country empty. The two young widow ladies insisted on going back home with her. However, Naomi felt in her heart that it was not right of her to overburden these good ladies with her very depressed situation. Finally, when the time came for her to return home, Naomi again firmly requested that the two young ladies should go about starting their new lives, as she was not in any position to give them other sons to remarry nor any to wait for.
